  1. Pressed button to create new repository
  2. Named it "Code"
  3. A window comes up: "One moment while we create your new repository"
    • There is a progress bar, animated, but it makes no progress
    • I waited at least 3 minutes
  4. When I eventually reloaded the "Browse Repositories" page, I saw: "Repositories ยป Code (Deleted) created by J. Douglas McClean." I take this to mean that somehow it was created, and then deleted again?
  5. I reloaded again, and saw a more graphical presentation of my not having any repositories, like the one shown in the demo yesterday at DevDays. I tried again, and the same indefinite wait happened.

Browser: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.9.1.3) Gecko/20090824 Firefox/3.5.3 (.NET CLR 4.0.20506)

Account: cairn.fogbugz.com (Not sure how to affiliate this account with my stackexchange account, or if I was supposed to create my stackexchange account with an openid issued by fogbugz, or if there is some other plan in place, sorry.)

Expected: Repository creation to take 15 seconds or less, or at least for the progress bar to be correct.

We're looking into this right now... – Ben Kamens Oct 8 2009 at 17:57
As we debug this issue directly in our code, your repositories might come into and out of existence. We hope to be fixing this issue ASAP -- thank you for your patience. – Ben Kamens Oct 8 2009 at 18:06

This turned out to be a server configuration/routing issue -- our sysadmin is fixing it at this very moment. – Ben Kamens Oct 8 2009 at 18:12
Okay, you should be fixed. Can you give it a shot? – Benjamin Pollack Oct 8 2009 at 18:14
Much better, thanks! – Douglas McClean Oct 8 2009 at 18:16

Repository creation should take a second or two, at most. We had a bad route in our backend network that made it impossible for our storage to notify the website your repository had been created, which made it appear to hang. We believe this issue has been fixed. Let us know if you continue experiencing any issues.

It has happened three times now. – Douglas McClean Oct 8 2009 at 17:51

I suspect some sort of javascript problem is more likely than that it is actually taking forever, want some kind of dump from firebug or something? – Douglas McClean Oct 8 2009 at 17:52
I don't think that'll help right at the moment. Your repositories are actually getting created, but there's some type of miscommunication going on between the website and the Mercurial storage machine. We're trying to figure out what's up. – Benjamin Pollack Oct 8 2009 at 18:04
Ok, no problem, it was just a guess. – Douglas McClean Oct 8 2009 at 18:06
All right, we've tracked it down to a routing problem within our backend infrastructure, and are working on a fix that should take effect shortly. We'll let you know as soon as it does. – Benjamin Pollack Oct 8 2009 at 18:13
