What resources would you recommend for learning about using Mercurial (and Kiln of course)?

There is a great "Mercurial for Beginners" guide on StackOverflow that contains answers to most basic questions: http://stackoverflow.com/questions/1170338/mercurial-for-beginners-the-definitive-practical-guide. If you have helpful information to add, please do so there! The book Mercurial: The Definitive Guide is quite good for getting your hands dirty with Mercurial and DVCS. Luckily, it's also available online for you to read, free of charge. Of course, the Wikipedia article on DVCS may also be of use if you're used to using (or have never used) a traditional version control system. |

This article on distributed version control (DVCS) is also quite useful: http://betterexplained.com/articles/intro-to-distributed-version-control-illustrated/. It talks explicitly about Mercurial for a while, but it's a general primer for those not familiar with DVCS. More importantly: we recognize that there isn't a great tutorial out there at the moment! You can bet this is on Fog Creek's plate (with respect to both Mercurial and Kiln)...and we'll be updating kiln.stackexchange.com in the future when we think we have a much better answer for you. In the meantime, if you have any questions at all, no matter how basic, please feel free to use this site. We'll be happy to answer. |

The chat channel, mercurial@irc.freenode.net, is also extremely helpful. You can come bug us all if you need real-time help. There's also a Mercurial users list, mercurial@selenic.com, that is generally very helpful with questions and answer. |

This doesn't answer your question directly (or at all really), but I get the impression Joel is working on a Mercurial book (via Twitter):
