Hi there,

I have a fairly sizeable git repository that I'm looking to import. Before I do so, I wondered if there is a limit that you currently impose in terms of size:

  • During the beta
  • When the service is live

I appreciate you may not be able to answer the latter just yet, but it would help to get an indication so that we can better manage our capacity planning.

Also, is there a size restriction per repository and/or a total limit overall?

Any help appreciated, Thanks, Rob G

Hi Rob,

At the moment there are no size restrictions. We will be keeping an eye on this and may, of course, be imposing restrictions later if necessary.

Out of curiosity, how sizeable is your git repository?

There are a few repositories, one of which runs into the low GBs range. This is mainly because all the design work (graphics etc at full resolution) are also being versioned. If it was just code, then it would olny be a few hundred Mb. – Rob G Nov 12 2009 at 17:30
Cool, give the a shot and please let us know what happens. If your repository is over 2GB, you may have trouble pushing to Kiln. We are going to provide instructions to help get around this and, soon, an extension to Mercurial that makes this much easier, but if this is the case let us know so we can help. – Ben Kamens Nov 12 2009 at 19:41
