I would like the ability to assign a users' permissions to projects/repositories from the User Options screen. Perhaps a more general way to bulk assign permissions.

We have a lot of projects and a lot of repositories but not that many users. Going into each project to set the permissions is tedious.

Thanks!

A simple interface like the web hooks interface whereby you can select the repositories to attach the web hook to... that would be nice in the user screen to assign project/repository access to a user. It just dawned on me as I was on that screen. :-) – Mike Tangorre May 3 2011 at 17:03

Good news! We're adding full support for groups to Kiln in the near future, so very soon, you'll be able to assign a collection of users to a group, and then use that group for permissions across repositories and projects. We'll likely be adding slightly finer-grained permissions in general at the same time.

Do you have some details on the new permissions system? Permissions have been one of the things I've had a lot of trouble managing in Kiln and I am anxious to know what improvements are coming. – Na'Tosha Bard Jun 8 2011 at 17:19
FogBugz and Kiln will share groups. Everywhere you currently can add a user in Kiln, you'll be able to add a group instead. The most precise security attribute wins (e.g., if Bob is in the Losers group, which has read-only access, but you've line-item said he has write access, he'll have write access). That should be hitting On Demand in the next three to five weeks, and licensed almost immediately after that. We're also adding a new permission level, Read and Branch, which allows you read-only access to central repos, but the ability to create private branches for yourself. – Benjamin Pollack Jun 9 2011 at 15:50
