Hey Bernard,

It looks like you are trying to install on Windows 2003 server right now. When we had talked you had mentioned that you were going to be installing on Windows 2k8. The installer that is available right now doesn't work on 2k3. We're working on fixes for this right now.

You can either give it a shot on 2k8, or I will update this question once we push an installer that works on 2k3. Sorry about that!

We've updated the installer, and it should work on Windows 2003 server now. Go ahead and give it a shot.

Jason, Sorry about that, my 2K8 server is tied up as I attempt to remove TFS. I'll wait for the 2K3 server as it will be cleaner. – BVSimmons Jan 21 2010 at 16:39
No worries. Just remember that if you want Kiln and FogBugz working together, they need to be installed on the same server. We would love for you to test the standalone Kiln installer too, but I want to make sure that we are getting you running in the environment that you plan to use long-term. – Jason Rosoff Jan 21 2010 at 16:44

Ok, I'll start with the standalone Kiln installer on 2K3 when it's ready. – BVSimmons Jan 21 2010 at 19:42

I have a similar environment (2K3 and SQL Server 2008 Dev), so I'll report my error also here.

I noticed that something stoped my SQL Server instance while installing IIS, but it never starts again. So I get this message: Runtime Error at 35::567 -> Could not access the database

After manual restart the installation-process goes on.

Update: With the new installer I get an other error --> Runtime 30:1542 Nil interface

Thanks Markus, we've got a case open against the installer guru and he is working on it. Will let you know when we've got something for you to test. – Jason Rosoff Jan 22 2010 at 16:04
Hey Markus, we've updated the installer to version 1.0.20. This version probably won't fix your issues, but has better error reporting so we can figure out better what's going on. Could you try it and let us know how it goes? Thanks. – Rock Hymas Jan 22 2010 at 20:00
Hey Rock, I have tested the 1.0.20 installer. Now I get an error dialog with "There is no current exception" if the installer try to connect to the stopped database. After restarting SQL Server and installer, everything works fine :-) Should I also do a test with W2k8? – Markus Jan 25 2010 at 8:15
Glad you're up and running Markus. We've been able to repro the "There is no current exception" error, and we'll be working on it. Meanwhile, enjoy using Kiln! – Rock Hymas Jan 25 2010 at 13:15
