I feel there have been a big silence around kiln lately. You guys are probably working hard on stuff, but what :) Where is kiln heading now and when can we expect a new release.

I guess I'm asking for a little road map, as others have before. But maybe a little more visible than a post on stackexchange.

It's own page on the site would be nice. A place I could go to always see whats planned. Searching in stackexchange posts for it is to cumbersome. (yes, I'm lazy)

So any plans for a more visible roadmap, and in the meantime. What's up ? :)

Hi! We're currently working on getting 2.7 licensed out (KOD is on 2.7 already), which should include among other things:

  • We replaced Kiln's heartbeat (analogous to FogBugz Heartbeat) with Redis! This is more of a silent change, but background tasks should run more robustly now. It also makes it easier for our support team to debug background tasks that fail.

  • Live reviews! Reviews will now auto-update when new events come in. We took the opportunity to teach our email notifications to be quiet if you're viewing or have recently viewed the review.

  • Beefier API: case association and dissociation and commiting.

  • Kiln Client now lets you create a review when you push (hg push --review).

  • The electric DAG should be faster than ever before.

  • You can now download archives of repositories at a revision in a TAR.GZ or ZIP file.

I'm definitely leaving things out (I'm not the release maintainer; I just went through our commit log :D). We'll post full release notes as it nears. Sorry we haven't be communicative lately! We've been heads down doing lots of behind-the-scenes infrastructure work, which we'll blog about after the holiday season.
